Notes on the Sleeve
“Panthalassa” marks a return to some of the most important recordings of Miles Davis’ passionate and controversial “electric” period of the early 1970s. Conceived by producer Bill Laswell as a modern mix translation and reconstruction in sound, this unprecedented project features newly restored performances and never-before-heard extended themes from “In A Silent Way” (1969), “On The Corner” (1972) and “Get Up With It” (1974)—all taken from the original multitrack tapes.
